So, which candidate is good from a First Principles perspective? Neither. In fact, we haven't had a president or congress that followed the constitution for a good 20 years or so. Some would argue with me on this, but Reagan was the last one who really wanted less government: lower taxes, less regulation, less less less. So, what to do? Do you go with the lesser of two evils (McCain, who at least isn't a socialist)? Or do you throw away your vote with a third party, like Chuck Baldwin?
I'm undecided, even now with a week to go. As I see it, the arguments go like this:
Third Party
McCain
McCain is really not that conservative, and is just as bad as most liberals in following the constitution. Notice how often he and Barack agreed during the debates?
Barack must be stopped: he may appoint as many as three supreme court justices, not to mention the democrats controlling both houses and the presidency - yikes! Remember Ross Perot?
The Republican Party has ceased to be the party of small government and now is more like the party of "a little less gov't than that other big party". Conservatives need to send a message to these folks and turn the ship.
Some of the ideas of these third party guys are a little wacky. And their campaign isn't run nearly as professionally as the two big parties (this might be a good thing, though, come to think of it...).

Uh, can't think of anything else.
You vote for Commander in Chief. McCain has it there - hands down.

Did I miss anything?
